Sandra Tarte is the Associate Professor and Head of the School of Government, Development and International Affairs, Faculty of Business and Economics at University of the South Pacific. She has been a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at USP since 1995. For three years (2007-2009) she was Head of School of Social Sciences, in the Faculty of Arts and Law.

Sandra received her BA (Honours) Political Science from the University of Melbourne and her Doctor of Philosophy, East Asian Studies from the Australian National University.

She has written widely on regional cooperation in the Pacific, with a focus on fisheries management and conservation. She has also consulted for the South Pacific Forum Fisheries Agency, the South Pacific Regional Environment Program, the International Development Centre, Tokyo, and Greenpeace Pacific. Sandra is also a regular speaker with the Leadership Fiji program on to session on Fiji’s recent political developments

Sandra grew up in Fiji. Before becoming an academic she worked as a journalist for The Fiji Times and Islands Business magazine.
