Matthew is the Regional Counsellor for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) at the Australian High Commission in Suva, Fiji. He is responsible for overseeing Australia’s Pacific Regional Aid Program and supporting Pacific Regional Organisations.

While at DFAT, Matthew has also managed Australian aid to the Middle East, Caribbean, Latin America and Cambodia including responses to the Syria and Iraq humanitarian crises. Prior to DFAT, he worked in the Australian Attorney-General’s Department and the Department of Infrastructure. Matthew holds a Masters in International Affairs from the Australian National University, and Bachelor or Social Sciences (Honours) in Sociology from the Queensland University of Technology.
