Wilson Toa, former Chief Executive Officer and current Consultant for Transparency International Vanuatu makes a point at the Pacific Regional Leadership Initiative.

May 26 2017- Congratulations to Ofa Guttenbeil-Likiliki Director, Women and Children Crisis Centre in Tonga and Wilson Toa, former Chief Executive Officer and current Consultant for Transparency International Vanuatu (TIV) on being named members of the Commonwealth Observer Group for the Papua New Guinea national elections taking place in June-July 2017.

Ofa and Wilson recently completed our Pacific Regional Leadership Initiative (PRLI)  and also attended the Train the Trainers component of PRLI. The PRLI is one of our offerings for Pacific leaders wherein they receive training and coaching in ‘adaptive leadership’ through the PRLI. Adaptive leadership is the practise of mobilising people to successfully tackle tough challenges in times of uncertainty- in their organisations communities and countries.

Ofa is a member of the Tonga Women in Leadership Coalition which includes other PLP partners, while Wilson was at the fore of TIV when it worked with the Government Right to Information on ensuring public consultation was made for the Right to Information Bill which was passed as an Act last December.

The former Governor-General of New Zealand and Former Chair of the Commonwealth Foundation- Rt Hon Sir Anand Satyanand will lead the Commonwealth Observer Group comprising representatives from various Commonwealth countries. Other  Pacific representatives are- Sashi Kiran Chief Executive Officer, Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development (FRIEND)- Fiji , Gabrissa Hartman-Member for Ubenide, Nauru, Fetogi Vaai- Assistant Commissioner of Elections of Samoa, and Calvin Ziru, Registrar, Political Parties Commission in the Solomon Islands.
