–  Vini Mafi is one of the five 2016 Greg Urwin Awards recipients. A legal officer with Tonga’s Ministry of Justice and Sub Registrar with the Registrar General’s Office, Through the Award, Vini applied for a placement with the Secretariat of the Pacific Community Regional Rights Resources Team (RRRT) in Suva, Fiji. Vini hopes her placement will contribute to her plans to advocate for the rights of children within the Tongan criminal justice system.

This week, Vini commenced her placement and joined the RRRT team members Katrina Ma’u Fatiaki and Neomai Maravuakula at a three day training on the Convention of the Rights of the Child (CRC) got underway in Nuku’alofa.
