PLP Convention
The PLP Convention is an annual gathering of eminent and emerging Pacific leaders from a diverse range of sectors including private, government and civil society. The purpose of the Convention is to facilitate high-level dialogue between influential leaders on the impact that leadership has on achieving developmental change.
The 2012 Convention will take place from 12th-16th March at the Clear Mountain Lodge outside Brisbane, Australia. The recently announced theme for 2012 will be ‘Leading with Courage – Making Development Change Happen’.
So far, confirmed speakers for the 2012 Convention include Steve Zimmerman (USA) on planning for organisational sustainability. Steve is an expert in financial management for NGOs and the co-author of ‘Nonprofit Sustainability: Making Strategy Decisions for Financial Viability’ (2010). Another speaker recently confirmed is Bernard Ross (UK) on strategic fundraising. Bernard is the author of several books on mobilising funding and the Director of the Management Centre, a leading training and consultancy organisation working to transform the performance of value driven organisations around the world.
Speaking about the 2011 PLP Convention, Nynette Sass from Samoa's Chamber of Commerce said "The Convention was very useful to me... Now I am more conscious about my approach to others when we are talking about effecting changes...This approach has come to the rescue a number of times since the Convention.”
